How We Test at KitchenTact

Every recipe, review, and recommendation on this site is based on real testing in a real kitchen. Here is exactly what that means.

Recipe Testing

Every recipe published on KitchenTact is cooked at least three times before it goes live. The first run establishes a baseline. The second tests variables — temperature adjustments, timing, thickness of cuts. The third confirms the result is consistent and repeatable.

Failed attempts are documented just as carefully as successful ones. The troubleshooting notes in each recipe come directly from what went wrong during development — not from guesswork.

Our main test appliance is a 5.8qt basket-style air fryer. We note when results may differ with oven-style or smaller basket models.

Product Reviews

Products reviewed on KitchenTact are purchased with our own money unless explicitly stated otherwise. We do not accept free products in exchange for reviews. If a brand offers a sample, we disclose it clearly and our opinion is not affected.

Each reviewed product is used for a minimum of two weeks before a verdict is reached. We test specific claims made in the product listing — capacity, ease of cleaning, noise level, heat consistency — and report what we actually found.

We Test For

Heat consistency · Ease of use · Cleaning time · Build quality · Noise · Value for money

We Don’t Do

Sponsored reviews · Pay-to-play placements · Undisclosed samples · Recommendations based on commission rates

Best Picks & Roundups

Roundup posts combine products we have tested directly with research-based selections for options we have not personally owned. Research-based picks are clearly labelled and based on verified specifications, owner reviews across multiple platforms, and reliability data.

Affiliate commission rates are never a factor in ranking or selection. The best option for the reader is always ranked first.
